Casita Manga Book Club @ Brooklyn Museum Pt 2

In honor of Art of Manga, Casita Manga, the first Latina-owned manga bookstore, hosts two book clubs focused on iconic series featured in the exhibition. On December 6, enter the world of Yoshinaga Fumi’s Ōoku: The Inner Chambers, a reimagined history set in Japan’s Edo period. When a disease kills the majority of the male population, a matriarchal society arises with women shoguns and reversed gender roles.

Open to both devoted fans and new readers, the program features a group reading followed by a moderated discussion, plus time to meet fellow manga fans, sit for a manga-style portrait by a local artist, and enjoy Art of Manga. Light bites and refreshments will be available for purchase.

Don’t miss the first book club on Sunday, November 8, exploring Takahashi Rumiko’s classic manga Inuyasha.
