Chicago in the 1990s--a city of crime that means good business for two young women: bounty hunter partners Rally and Minnie-May, the Gunsmith Cats!

Fans will love this crime manga classic from the '90s from the character designer of Bubblegum Crisis, printed in an over-sized format and high-quality paper.

Rally Vincent runs Gunsmith Cats--a gun shop in Illinois with her partner, demolitions expert and former call girl Minnie-May Hopkins. But Rally's "real" job doesn't pay the bills, her hobby does. And her hobby is bounty hunting, bringing the most wanted men and women in the Chicago area to justice--dressed in her sharp suit and tie, and driving her Shelby Cobra GT 500!

In Gunsmith Cats Omnibus vol. 3, custody battles can get nasty--but rarely as nasty as the situation Rally and Minnie-May are caught up in. Michael Stone, the famed hypnotist and stage magician known professionally as "Mister Smart" has jumped bail on a hit-and-run, which made him Rally's business...and then kidnapping gets added to the rap sheet, as Smart is set up by his estranged wife on a false charge of abducting his own daughter, Jeena. But this is much more than just a family dispute, as behind the personal drama is a scheme to use Smart's skills to rip off $20 million in Mob money...with Jeena's life as penalty if he doesn't pull off the trick!

Then, Rally's trouble-prone pal, master thief Misty Brown, gets into more trouble than ever when she decides to steal Bean "Roadbuster" Bandit's beloved car Buff on a whim. Not only is Bean a tad upset, but Misty is now in terrible danger, and not necessarily from the Roadbuster--because certain ruthless people want to lay hands on the cargo he was transporting. Sure, it was only blank sheets of paper, but there's thousands of them...and it seems they're the exact same special kind used by the US Mint!

For mature audiences.

"...[Sonoda's] work on series such as Bubblegum Crisis and Gall Force helped define the look of 1980s anime. His first major manga, Gunsmith Cats, proved that Sonoda is a talented writer as well. (3 1/2 stars out of 4)"--Jason Thompson, Manga: The Complete Guide

"Muscled thugs stalking mean streets, fast cars, pretty girls, and enough munitions to equip a personal army...Gunsmith Cats is a superb series worthy of just about anyone's collection." --A.V. Club

"A classic girls with guns manga." --Library Journal

About The Author
Kenichi Sonoda is an iconic artist of the retro anime aesthetic. He was the character designer for the classic 1980s cyberpunk saga Bubblegum Crisis, and in the 1990s for Otaku no Video, the anime from legendary studio Gainax (Neon Genesis Evangelion) that popularized the term "otaku." In 2024, Kenichi Sonoda was given the prestigious Inkpot Award at San Diego Comic-Con.

Gunsmith Cats is Sonoda's longest manga series, making its original 1991 debut in Kodansha's Afternoon magazine, home of such stories as Vinland Saga, Blade of the Immortal, Oh My Goddess! and Wandering Island.

Kenichi Sonoda traces his roots to Kumamoto, Japan, where in recent years he has become the 19th family head of his ancestral wagashi (traditional Japanese confectionery) shop, founded in 1582--for which Sonoda now designs character mascots!

Do you offer free shipping?

We offer free shipping on all orders over $75.

As a small, growing shop, we partner with trusted distributors to ship books directly to you. This allows us to offer a much wider selection while we build toward our first physical space.

We also use tiered shipping, which means the more you add to your cart, the lower the shipping cost per book becomes. So that means, even if you’re not quite at $75 yet, it often makes sense to grab one more volume and save overall.

Why shop with you instead of big retailers?

Every order supports a small, Latina-owned manga shop built by real fans who care deeply about the stories, the art, and the culture around it.

We curate with intention, not algorithms, and we’re building something bigger than a storefront: a space for collectors, readers, and fans to connect.

What is your return policy?

Because of how we currently fulfill orders, we’re not able to accept general returns at this time.

The only exception is if your order arrives damaged or incorrect. If you experience either, please reach out to us at casitademanga@gmail.com
and we’ll be more than happy to personally help you with a damage/error return.

Can I cancel or change my order?

We move quickly to get your order on its way.

If you need to make a change, contact us as soon as possible and we’ll do our best to catch it before it ships. Once it’s on the way, we’re unable to modify the order.
