About The Author
Rikao Yanagita dropped out of his science studies at Tokyo University to become a full-time cram school teacher. In 1991, he started a private cram school, only to find he had no managerial talent whatsoever. On the edge of bankruptcy, in 1995 Yanagita wrote The Fantasy Science Reader, which applied scientific-sounding explanations to famous science fiction and fantasy characters and situations. It became a national bestseller. In the 20 years since Yanagita has made the Reader into a popular series, full of ridiculous illustrations and even more ridiculous theories.

Do you offer free shipping?

We offer free shipping on all orders over $75.

As a small, growing shop, we partner with trusted distributors to ship books directly to you. This allows us to offer a much wider selection while we build toward our first physical space.

We also use tiered shipping, which means the more you add to your cart, the lower the shipping cost per book becomes. So that means, even if you’re not quite at $75 yet, it often makes sense to grab one more volume and save overall.

What is your return policy?

Because of how we currently fulfill orders, we’re not able to accept general returns at this time.

Can I cancel or change my order?
